What is covered
Manufacturing defects: panels delivered out of square, frames that fail to hold their geometry, paint failure or peeling under normal conditions, louvres that snap without external force, tilt-rod failures, hinge failures.
Material defects: warping, splitting, or delamination in normal domestic conditions (for Polycomposite, this includes humid wet rooms like bathrooms and kitchens; for Hardwood, dry rooms only).
Workmanship of the original installation, where we did the installation. If a panel comes out of alignment, a frame catches the wall, or a louvre binds because of how the shutter was fitted, we come back and put it right at no cost.
What is not covered
Misuse: louvres pulled directly instead of using the tilt rod, panels slammed shut, anything hung from a louvre, abrasive cleaners damaging the finish.
Accidental damage: dropped objects breaking louvres, doors swung into panels, pets clawing at frames.
Hardwood used in wet rooms: hardwood basswood is not rated for bathrooms, kitchens, or other humid environments. Using it there voids the warranty for moisture-related damage. Polycomposite is the material we recommend for wet and humid rooms.
Normal wear and tear: minor finish ageing after many years, hinges that loosen with frequent use (a yearly drop of silicone lubricant solves this).
How to make a claim
Contact us by phone or through the contact form. Include the original order reference if you have it (we can look it up by address if not), and a clear description of the problem. A photograph or two helps us assess remotely.
We arrange a visit to inspect the shutter in person. We do not assess warranty claims over the phone - we need to see the fault to confirm what it is and what caused it.
If it is a covered fault, we resolve it at no cost - replacement parts, refitting, refinishing, whatever the fault calls for.
If it is not covered (misuse, accidental damage, wear), we will tell you clearly and quote any repair work separately. You take the quote home and decide whether to proceed.
Beyond the warranty period
A 10-year warranty does not mean the shutters stop working at 11 years. Many installations continue working well past their guarantee period. Routine maintenance, including deep cleaning, hinge lubrication, and occasional refinishing on Hardwood, helps extend their working life.
We continue to service shutters we originally installed, indefinitely. The relationship does not end with the warranty.
We also service shutters we did not originally install. If you have inherited shutters from a previous owner or bought through another supplier who is no longer around, we will assess and repair them on the same basis as our own.
