Why Choose Us
Why Surrey homeowners choose us
A good shutter job starts before anything is ordered. We check the windows, find the right solution, price the work clearly, and fit the shutters ourselves.
One team, start to finish
The same family team handles the survey, measuring, fitting, and aftercare. If something needs adjusting afterwards, you call us directly.
Two ways to order
Express is built for speed, with UK-made shutters and a shorter lead time. Plan & Save is built for value, with a longer lead time and a better price.
Made to last
The finish needs to last as well as the fit. Our shutters use high-quality materials with a durable painted finish, and Polycomposite adds waterproofing, reinforcement, and better insulation.
Honest advice, room by room
The right shutter depends on the room. We talk through privacy, light control, moisture, and insulation so the final choice is practical.
Plantation shutters for Teddington’s Victorian and Edwardian homes
Teddington runs down to the Thames at the river’s tidal limit, the lowest weir on the Thames, which is why locals call it Tide End Town. The housing grew up with the railway, so the stock is mostly Victorian and Edwardian: timber-sash terraces and bay-fronted villas on Cambridge Road, Manor Road, Broom Road, and Waldegrave Road, with some later detached homes on the streets towards Bushy Park.
We fit a lot of original sash and bay windows here, so we keep the proportions right and the room light. The trick is matching the shutter to the window, not forcing one style on the whole house. We work that out at the survey, window by window.
Shutters in the Teddington Lock and High Street conservation areas
Teddington has two conservation areas, and shutters go on the inside, so they usually sit outside the rules that cover the windows and doors themselves. The Teddington Lock area runs from the riverside cottages with their leaded lights and timber-framed casements to the Victorian villas with canted bays on streets like Ferry Road and Langham Road. The High Street area is the red-brick Edwardian shopping parades, timber sash above and double-height canted bays below.
If your home is listed, or you are not sure, we will tell you to check with the council first, and we will spec the shutters to suit the original windows either way. On front elevations we tend to recommend a tighter 63mm or 76mm louvre so the proportions stay sympathetic to the older detailing.
Sash, bay and riverside windows: what works best in Teddington
Tall sash windows usually suit tier on tier or cafe style: privacy at street level without losing the light. Bays suit full height shutters, measured to the exact angles, because the original Edwardian bays rarely sit on a tidy 90 degrees. Front receptions and living rooms often take cafe style or full height depending on how much the room is overlooked; bedrooms tend to take full height for a calmer blackout.
Bathrooms and kitchens call for waterproof Polycomposite, reinforced and better insulated, with a 10-year guarantee. Dry living rooms and bedrooms can use Hardwood for real timber character, guaranteed 5 years. We talk it through room by room and recommend what actually works. Your Teddington shutter survey, from first visit to fitting
The survey is a single free home visit, no deposit until you order. We measure every window, bring physical samples of both ranges, and leave a written specification and quote within a couple of working days.
We price by the square metre, so the cost tracks the size of your windows. Express is £315/sqm in Polycomposite, £380/sqm in Hardwood. Plan & Save is £260/sqm either way, and we confirm the exact figure before you commit. Express shutters, made in the UK, are usually fitted in about 2 to 3 weeks. Plan & Save, made overseas to the same spec, takes around 8 to 9 weeks.
