How our pricing works
We price per square metre of shutter area, not per window. That means the cost scales fairly with the size of the opening rather than averaging out across small and large windows in a quote.
The UK-made Express range is £315 per square metre for Polycomposite or £380 per square metre for Hardwood, and is usually fitted in about 2 to 3 weeks. Plan & Save is £260 per square metre for both materials, made overseas to the same specification, over roughly 8 to 9 weeks. The rate includes the shutter, the frame, the louvres, the tilt mechanism, survey and specification, and installation by our own team.
For multi-panel installations like bay windows or tier-on-tier configurations, the total area is the sum of all panel faces. So a three-panel bay measured at 1m x 1.5m per panel works out at 4.5 sqm, which is the figure we apply the per-square-metre rate to.
Worked examples
Standard single window, 1.2m wide x 1.5m tall (1.8 sqm): £567 on Express Polycomposite, £684 on Express Hardwood, or £468 on Plan & Save.
Tall sash, 1.0m x 2.0m (2.0 sqm): £630 on Express Polycomposite, £760 on Express Hardwood, or £520 on Plan & Save.
Small Victorian bay, three panels at roughly 0.8m x 1.5m each (3.6 sqm): £1,134 on Express Polycomposite, £1,368 on Express Hardwood, or £936 on Plan & Save.
Larger Edwardian bay, three panels at 1.0m x 1.8m each (5.4 sqm): £1,701 on Express Polycomposite, £2,052 on Express Hardwood, or £1,404 on Plan & Save.
Whole-house typical (six to eight windows mixing standard, sash, and one bay) depends heavily on material and total area. Real figures come from the survey.
What adds to the price
Custom colour matching on Hardwood (bringing in a non-standard paint or stain) adds a small premium over the standard painted range. Polycomposite is limited to the standard painted colours.
Tracked configurations for bi-fold and patio doors are priced per metre of track and panel rather than per sqm, because the track hardware drives the cost. We confirm at survey.
Shaped and arched shutters (non-rectangular windows) carry a bespoke fabrication premium because each panel is templated to the actual opening.
Hidden-tilt mechanism (no visible centre rod) adds a small premium over a traditional bar tilt because of the internal linkage.
What's already included
Free home survey across Surrey and South West London, with no obligation and no deposit at the survey stage.
Written quotation valid for 30 days, with every window broken down: dimensions, material, louvre size, style, frame type, and per-window price.
Full installation by our own team. No subcontractors. No separate "fitting fee" added on the day.
Manufacturer guarantee against defects: 5 years on Hardwood, 10 years on Polycomposite, both under normal domestic use.
Reading a written quotation
A clean quote shows the area of each window (in sqm), the material, the style, the louvre size, and the per-window price. The total should be the sum of those prices plus VAT if applicable.
Watch for: a vague "from GBPx" headline figure with no per-window breakdown, separate "installation extras" that should be included in the headline rate, or any "survey fee" at all for a residential plantation shutter quotation.
A reputable quote stays at the quoted price all the way through. If anything changes on the day (e.g. the reveal turns out to be different to expectations and the spec needs to change), we explain why before the price moves, not after.
