How much do plantation shutters cost?
We price plantation shutters by the square metre of shutter area, not by a vague starting price for an unknown window. Plan & Save starts at £260 per square metre for either material. Express is £315 per square metre for Polycomposite or £380 per square metre for Hardwood. All three rates include VAT, the home survey, supply and fitting.
The final figure depends on the measured area, the material, the style and the panel layout. A multi-panel bay, tier-on-tier layout, shaped opening or tracked door needs a different specification from a straightforward rectangular window.
A survey confirms the dimensions, reveal depth, handles and panel swing before we provide the final written quote. That means the specification is based on your actual windows rather than a rough estimate.
What is included in the shutter price?
The published shutter rates include VAT, the made-to-measure shutters and frames, the home survey, supply and fitting. Your written quote sets out the material, style, panel layout and price for each opening before you order.
We confirm the final specification after measuring the windows. This is especially important where a reveal is shallow, a handle projects into the opening or the panels need to work around a bay angle.
How are blackout blinds priced with shutters?
A blackout blind is priced separately from new shutters. Blackout blinds cost £158 per square metre including VAT, a home survey, supply and fitting. The shutter price remains separate when the blind is integrated with new shutters.
How much do bay window shutters cost?
Bay window shutters are calculated from the combined area of each face. Because a bay usually has more area and more panels than a flat window, its total cost is often higher than a single opening.
A small Victorian bay with three faces at roughly 0.8m by 1.5m each measures 3.6 square metres. At the published rates, that is £1,134 on Express Polycomposite, £1,368 on Express Hardwood or £936 on Plan & Save.
A larger Edwardian bay with three faces at 1m by 1.8m each measures 5.4 square metres. At the published rates, that is £1,701 on Express Polycomposite, £2,052 on Express Hardwood or £1,404 on Plan & Save.
These worked examples assume a standard full-height layout. Tier-on-tier shutters cost 10% more than the equivalent full-height configuration because the separate upper and lower panels need their own hinge mechanisms.
Which options can change the quote?
The material, panel layout and opening shape can all change the final specification. Tier-on-tier shutters are 10% more expensive than the equivalent full-height configuration because the separate upper and lower panels need their own hinge mechanisms. Hidden tilt, shaped panels and tracked door systems also need different components and measuring from a straightforward full-height shutter.
The survey also checks the practical details that affect the layout, including handles, sill depth, panel swing and bay angles. We explain the final specification before you order.
How to compare a shutter quotation
Compare the measured area, material, style and panel layout before comparing the total. A lower headline figure can describe a different specification, so ask for the detail for each opening in writing.
A clear quote lets you see how the price is built up and whether the survey and installation are included. If the specification needs to change after measuring, we explain the reason before you order.
Are window shutters expensive?
Made-to-measure shutters usually cost more upfront than an off-the-shelf blind because each opening is measured, manufactured and fitted to its own specification. The total depends on shutter area, material, style and panel layout.
Compare what the quotation includes as well as the headline total. Our published rates include the survey, made-to-measure specification and installation, with the exact detail confirmed in writing before you order.
