Hardwood (basswood)

Bespoke shutters for windows that are not standard rectangles. Arched fanlights, angled gables, circular portholes, raked ceilings, half-moons, and whatever other shape the original window happens to be.
Every shaped shutter is built specifically to the window it sits in. We measure with a template at the survey rather than rely on standard dimensions.
The style explained
Shaped shutters are panels manufactured to fit non-rectangular openings. The frame follows the actual shape of the window (arch, angle, circle, raked top, half-moon), and the louvres are configured to operate inside that frame.
Each shaped panel is a one-off. There is no off-the-shelf catalogue equivalent because no two arched windows are exactly the same size or curvature.

Best for
Arched, angled, circular, gable, and other non-rectangular windows
Main benefit
The shutter follows the actual shape instead of covering it with a rectangle
Survey check
Template, curve, angle, louvre movement, and panel operation
Lead time
Usually longer than standard rectangular shutters because each one is bespoke
Where it works best
Common above main entrance doors and on Georgian first-floor windows. A shaped panel fitted to the arch preserves the architectural feature instead of squaring it off with a rectangular shutter.
Loft conversions with sloped or triangular gable windows where a rectangular shutter cannot fit. Shaped panels follow the slope precisely.
Round windows where standard treatments do not work at all. Operable louvre arrangements are possible on full circles up to a practical maximum diameter.
How to choose
The point is to preserve the arch, angle, circle, or gable shape instead of hiding it behind a square treatment.
Non-rectangular windows cannot be promised from a rough width and height. The shape, curve, and operation need checking properly.
Many homes only need shaped shutters on one feature window, with full-height or tier-on-tier elsewhere.

It depends on the shape. Rectangular sections below an arch are fully operable like any standard shutter. The arched or curved portion itself is sometimes operable, sometimes fixed depending on the geometry. We confirm what is possible at the survey before quoting.
For shaped windows we template the opening at survey and confirm what can be made before anything is ordered. The measuring method depends on the shape and complexity of the opening.
Typically 4 to 6 weeks for shaped work on the Express range, longer than the standard Express 2 to 3 weeks because every panel is one-off and templated. Plan & Save shaped work takes longer, and we confirm the exact timing for both at the survey.
Yes, up to a practical maximum diameter (typically around 1000mm). On larger circles the louvre operation becomes mechanically awkward. We confirm feasibility based on the actual measurement.
Yes. A shaped opening needs to be checked and templated properly before manufacture. Photos help us understand the window, but the final shutter is confirmed from the survey measurements.
