Plantation Shutters in Surbiton
Bespoke plantation shutters across KT5 and KT6 Surbiton, from the Victorian terraces around Maple Road and the Art Deco flats by the station through the Edwardian villas on Surbiton Hill.
Family-run design, measuring, and installation by the same team. Both Hardwood and Polycomposite are available on Express or Plan & Save; we recommend the material by room conditions and whether real timber character matters.

Why Choose Us
Why Surrey homeowners choose us
A good set of shutters is only half the job. The rest is who measures them, who fits them, and whether the price was fair. Here is how we work across Surrey and South West London.
One team, start to finish
No subcontractors. The people who measure your windows are the people who fit them, and the same people you ring afterwards. We have been doing exactly this for over 15 years.
Two ways to order
In a hurry? Express shutters are UK-made and usually fitted in 2 to 3 weeks. Got a little time? Plan & Save takes around 8 to 9 weeks and can reduce the price by up to 25%. Same survey, same fitters.
Made to last
Polycomposite is waterproof, reinforced, better insulated, and covered by a 10-year manufacturer guarantee. Hardwood gives real basswood character with the same premium painted finish and a 5-year manufacturer guarantee.
Honest advice, room by room
We recommend what suits the room and the way you use it. The material decision is not about price: both materials cost the same, so the advice stays practical.
The Surbiton housing landscape
Surbiton spans KT5 and KT6 and packs in more architectural variety than most Kingston-borough towns. We work across the Victorian terraces around Maple Road and Beresford Road, the 1930s Art Deco mansion flats either side of the station on St Mark’s Hill and Cranes Park, the Edwardian villas climbing Surbiton Hill, the 1950s and 1960s blocks along Portsmouth Road, and the newer riverside flats by Surbiton waterfront.
That mix matters for shutter design. A 1890 Victorian sash on Maple Road needs different proportions from a 1932 Art Deco metal-framed window on St Mark’s Hill, and again from a 2018 riverside apartment off Portsmouth Road. We measure each window individually and recommend the shutter layout, frame depth, and material that work for that opening.
Where shutters matter most in a Surbiton home
Bay-fronted Victorian terraces in the streets between Maple Road and Surbiton Crescent are usually the first priority. Tier-on-tier with hidden tilt on a 76mm louvre suits the tall sash proportions and lets daytime privacy at street level while keeping light above.
Art Deco flats around the station are the second pattern. The original Crittall-style metal windows have shallow reveals; we typically recommend a face-fit frame with full-height shutters in 89mm louvres to keep the modernist proportions clean.
Edwardian villas on Surbiton Hill are the third common project. Larger bay windows, wider hallway sashes, and bigger bathrooms benefit from a mixed Hardwood / Polycomposite spec across the house, with the bathroom-grade range running through wet areas.
Common Surbiton shutter projects
Whole-house Hardwood schemes on the Victorian terraces around Maple Road, Beresford Road, and Berrylands Road are one of our most common Surbiton project types. A typical project covers 8 to 10 windows over three storeys (basement, ground, first), with tier-on-tier on the tall ground-floor sashes and full-height across the upper floors.
Art Deco apartment fits are the second regular pattern. The mansion blocks around the station tend to have 4 to 6 windows per flat. We typically run Polycomposite throughout for lower maintenance, reinforcement, and better insulation, with face-fit L-frames to handle the shallow reveals on the original metal windows.
Edwardian villa whole-house schemes on Surbiton Hill and the streets towards Berrylands are the third common project. 10 to 14 windows, room-by-room material specification, single-day fit for the smaller villas and a day and a half for the bigger ones.
From first visit to fitted shutters
The consultation is a single home visit, usually 45 to 60 minutes for a flat or terrace and 60 to 90 minutes for an Edwardian villa. We measure every window, bring physical samples of both ranges, and leave with a written specification and quote within a couple of working days. There is no obligation at the visit and no deposit until you confirm the order.
For mansion blocks around the station we coordinate access with the building manager in advance where required, and confirm any leaseholder consent points before manufacture. Installation is normally a single day for a flat or terrace, sometimes one and a half for the bigger villas.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. The team covers the whole Surbiton area, from KT5 (south side, towards Berrylands and Tolworth) through KT6 (the town centre, Surbiton Hill, and the riverside). Surveys and installation visits within KT5 and KT6 are free of travel charge.
Yes. The Cranes Park, St Mark’s Hill, and Maple Road mansion blocks are a frequent project type. The original metal-framed windows have shallow reveals, so we typically specify a face-fit L-frame with full-height shutters on a 89mm louvre to keep the modernist proportions reading correctly.
Tier-on-tier configurations work especially well on the tall sashes along Maple Road, Beresford Road, and Berrylands Road. The lower panels close for street-level privacy while the upper panels stay open for light. Hardwood with hidden tilt on a 76mm louvre matches the proportions of the original windows correctly.
Regularly. The Edwardian villas climbing Surbiton Hill are one of our common Surbiton project types. The bigger window counts (10 to 14 across two or three storeys) and the room-by-room material specification are normal for these homes.
A 6 to 10 window flat or terrace is normally fitted in a single day. Larger Edwardian villas (10 to 14 windows) run a full day to a day and a half. We confirm the realistic estimate in writing before the date is booked.
