Plantation Shutters in Cobham

Bespoke plantation shutters across KT11, from the Cobham village conservation area through Stoke D’Abernon and the Fairmile corridor of larger detached homes.

Family-run design, measuring, and installation by the same team. Both Hardwood and Polycomposite are available on Express or Plan & Save; we recommend the material by room conditions and whether real timber character matters.

Why Choose Us

Why Surrey homeowners choose us

A good set of shutters is only half the job. The rest is who measures them, who fits them, and whether the price was fair. Here is how we work across Surrey and South West London.

One team, start to finish

No subcontractors. The people who measure your windows are the people who fit them, and the same people you ring afterwards. We have been doing exactly this for over 15 years.

Two ways to order

In a hurry? Express shutters are UK-made and usually fitted in 2 to 3 weeks. Got a little time? Plan & Save takes around 8 to 9 weeks and can reduce the price by up to 25%. Same survey, same fitters.

Made to last

Polycomposite is waterproof, reinforced, better insulated, and covered by a 10-year manufacturer guarantee. Hardwood gives real basswood character with the same premium painted finish and a 5-year manufacturer guarantee.

Honest advice, room by room

We recommend what suits the room and the way you use it. The material decision is not about price: both materials cost the same, so the advice stays practical.

Cobham Shutter Guide
01

The Cobham housing landscape

Cobham sits in the heart of Elmbridge with a historic high-street village core and a band of large detached homes around it. We work across the village (the conservation area between Church Street and the High Street, and the older properties towards Painshill Park), the wider Stoke D’Abernon and Fairmile corridors of larger detached family homes, and the contemporary luxury new-builds along the private roads of Leigh Hill and Fairmile Park.

That variety matters for shutter design. The right specification on an Edwardian sash near Church Street is very different from what suits a 2020 floor-to-ceiling glazed extension off Fairmile Lane. We measure each window individually and recommend the shutter layout, frame depth, and material that work for that opening, not a stock template applied across the house.

02

Where shutters matter most in a Cobham home

Principal reception rooms and bay-fronted front rooms are usually the first priority, especially on the larger plots where the road sight lines and open driveways make front-room daytime privacy genuinely useful.

Master bedrooms, ensuites, and family bathrooms come second. Polycomposite handles the humidity of busy bathrooms cleanly and carries a 10-year manufacturer guarantee that fits the longer-term thinking of most Cobham buyers.

Rear and side extensions are the third pattern. Tracked shutter runs sit on a top track across bifold or sliding glazing, sliding clear when the doors are open and closing flat for evening privacy without breaking the line of the elevation.

03

Common Cobham shutter projects

Whole-house Hardwood schemes on the larger Edwardian and 1930s detached homes around Stoke D’Abernon and Fairmile are one of our most common Cobham projects. A typical project covers 10 to 16 windows over two storeys, with full-height shutters on the front and side elevations, and bathroom-grade Polycomposite running through the family bathrooms and ensuites.

Contemporary new-builds along the private roads of Leigh Hill and Fairmile Park are the second regular pattern. These tend to have wider glazing and more bespoke window proportions, and the brief is usually about restrained architectural minimalism. We typically recommend 89mm louvres with hidden tilt and clean L-frame profiles so the louvre face stays uninterrupted.

Bay-fronted reception rooms on the village-edge homes off Church Street and the streets towards Painshill are the third common project. Full-height shutters with hidden tilt on a 63mm or 76mm louvre keeps the proportions sympathetic to the older windows.

04

From first visit to fitted shutters

The consultation is a single home visit, usually 60 to 90 minutes for the larger Cobham properties. We measure every window, bring physical samples of both ranges, and leave with a written specification and quote within a couple of working days. There is no obligation at the visit and no deposit until you confirm the order.

For homes inside the Cobham village conservation area we tend to recommend a tighter louvre size on the front elevation so the proportions stay sympathetic to older sash detailing. Installation is normally one full day for an 8 to 12 window home and runs into a second day for the larger schemes, which we confirm in writing before the date is booked.
