Choose the right shutter material
Choose waterproof Polycomposite for wet and humid rooms, lighter Hardwood for dry rooms and larger panels, or Security Aluminium when durable metal construction and optional locking features are priorities.
How we help you choose
Start with the room conditions. Use Polycomposite where steam, splashes or regular condensation matter. Consider Hardwood where the room stays dry.
During the consultation we talk through louvre size, painted finish, and which material is most practical for the way the room is actually used.
Choose Security Aluminium when a durable metal panel and optional locking features are part of the brief. We explain each material on the same practical basis so the decision follows the room, opening and features you actually need.
Shutter Styles
Which plantation shutter style suits your windows?
The right style depends on the window shape, the room, and whether privacy, light control, darkness, or clear door access matters most. Compare full height, cafe style, tier on tier, bay, bifold, shaped, tracked, and solid panel shutters.
Shutters by Room
Which plantation shutters suit each room?
Material and style choices change by room. Bathrooms need waterproof Polycomposite; bedrooms need honest room-darkening advice; living rooms often benefit from a more architectural finish. Browse the room-by-room guidance before your survey.
Blackout Blinds
Add blackout when you need complete darkness
Shutters provide 98% darkness when fully closed. When you need 100% light blocking, we can add a manual honeycomb blackout blind in the same frame as new shutters or retrofit blackout blinds to compatible existing shutters.

Blackout Blinds
Blocks 100% of light when lowered, providing complete darkness.
Both Together
A manual honeycomb blackout blind blocks 100% of light in the same frame as new shutters. Retrofitted blackout blinds are installed behind suitable existing shutter panels and can be manual or electric.

Frequently Asked Questions
The total depends on window size, style, material, and how you order. Standard shutter pricing is per square metre: Express Polycomposite is £315/sqm, Express Hardwood is £380/sqm, and Plan & Save is £260/sqm for both materials. All three rates include VAT, the home survey, supply and fitting. Bays, tier-on-tier panels, shaped windows, and tracked doors need a survey before we can price them properly. You get a written quote after the survey with the measured specification and total price.
Express shutters are UK-made and usually take 2 to 3 weeks. Plan & Save shutters are made overseas to the same specification and usually take 8 to 9 weeks. Both lead times begin once your 50% deposit is paid and your order is placed. We confirm the expected timing in the written quote before you place the order.
Express pricing differs by material: Polycomposite is £315/sqm and Hardwood is £380/sqm. Plan & Save is £260/sqm for both. All three rates include VAT, the home survey, supply and fitting. Polycomposite is waterproof, and metal insertions inside its louvres and frame provide better thermal and noise insulation than Hardwood. It has a 10-year guarantee. Hardwood is lighter for dry rooms and larger panels, with a 5-year guarantee. Read the wood vs composite shutters comparison for the full room-by-room decision.
No. The survey is free in the towns we cover. We measure the windows, check the reveal and handle clearances, talk through style and material options, and leave you with a written quotation. No deposit is taken at the survey stage. Our guide explains how to measure for plantation shutters when you only need rough figures for budgeting.
Manufacturer defect cover is 5 years on Hardwood and 10 years on Polycomposite. Separately, our non-transferable 10-year personal guarantee covers components, finishes, replacement parts and return visits for faults attributable to our work. Customer-caused damage may cost extra. The warranty guide explains the two promises without changing your statutory rights.
We cover the towns listed on our Areas We Cover page, including Kingston, Richmond, Wimbledon, Twickenham, Teddington, Surbiton, Walton, and Sunbury. Use your postcode in the contact form to confirm your address.
Listed status and conservation-area controls are different checks. Internal alterations to a listed building can need consent when they affect its special interest. For an unlisted home in a conservation area, check whether an Article 4 direction or another local control applies to the proposal. Ask the local planning authority before ordering if permission is uncertain; a shutter survey cannot decide that question.
