Plantation Shutters in Kingston

Made-to-measure plantation shutters for Kingston homes. We tailor shutters to Kingston’s mix of historic town windows, Victorian homes, and newer glazing where privacy and finish need different solutions.

We match the shutter to the window and room, with cafe style and tier on tier where the architecture is more historic, with full height shutters and tracked systems where the glazing is wider or more modern.

Why Choose Us

Why homeowners choose Shutters Design

A good shutter job starts before anything is ordered. We check the windows, find the right solution, price the work clearly, and fit the shutters ourselves.

One team, start to finish

The same family team handles the survey, measuring, fitting, and aftercare. If something needs adjusting afterwards, you call us directly.

Two ways to order

Express is built for speed, with UK-made shutters and a shorter lead time. Plan & Save is built for value, with a longer lead time and a better price.

Made to last

Polycomposite is waterproof and provides better thermal and noise insulation through metal insertions inside the louvres and frame. Hardwood is lighter real basswood for larger panels in dry rooms.

Honest advice, room by room

The right shutter depends on the room. We talk through privacy, light control, moisture, and insulation so the final choice is practical.

Plantation shutters for Kingston homes

Kingston upon Thames is its own Royal Borough, an ancient market town with Saxon roots and the Coronation Stone by the Guildhall. The homes are a real mix: sash and bay windows on the older streets, riverside flats by the bridge, and modern family houses with wider glazing out at Coombe. Shutters suit all three, and they look right in a traditional room or a contemporary one.

We measure and fit every window ourselves, so the proportions stay right and the rooms stay light. We work it out at the survey, window by window, not one stock style forced across the house.

02

Sash and bay window shutters in Kingston upon Thames

Older sash and bay windows need a layout that follows the original proportions rather than a stock local template. A tall sash can use tier on tier or cafe style for privacy at street level without losing the light. A bay can take full height shutters measured to its individual angles.

Out at Kingston Hill and the Coombe conservation areas, the homes are larger and set back on wider plots, so the brief shifts to whole rooms and broader rear glazing. There, tracked shutter runs sit on a top track across bifold or sliding doors, clearing aside when the doors open and closing flat for evening privacy.

03

Shutter styles and materials for Kingston homes

We choose the material room by room. Bathrooms and kitchens call for waterproof Polycomposite. Dry living rooms and bedrooms can use Hardwood for real timber character. Riverside flats by the bridge and along Canbury Gardens usually suit Polycomposite too, for the easier maintenance on exposed, sunlit glazing.

You can see recent installations in our gallery, and pricing is confirmed in writing before you commit. We talk it through room by room and recommend what actually works.

We price by the square metre, so the cost tracks the size of your windows. Express is £315/sqm in Polycomposite, £380/sqm in Hardwood. Plan & Save is £260/sqm either way. The survey is free, there is no deposit until you order, and we confirm the exact figure before you commit. All published shutter rates include VAT, the home survey, supply and fitting.

Express shutters are UK-made and usually fitted in about 2 to 3 weeks. Plan & Save, made overseas to the same spec, takes around 8 to 9 weeks. Hardwood carries a 5 year guarantee, Polycomposite a 10 year guarantee.
